I taught my first piano lesson at age 15, and even before then I had known that my life would involve students in some way. It was never a "Plan B" for me,  I love it and am looking forward to doing it for as long as I'm able. I like being able to figure out what makes a particular student "Click".  For some it can be as simple as demonstrating something fast and flashy (or intense and passionate) for them for them, and  realizing they never knew the piano was capable of something like this. For others, it can be walking them through a difficult passage and watching the look of surprise at themselves that they can actually do something that they didn't think they could. 

I offer a rigorous classical foundation while keeping in mind that the best learning takes place with patience, positivity, and taking into account each student's unique learning style. My students take part in the Certificate of Merit exams and SYMF Competition. I'm a member of all local and natioanl music teacher organizations, and my students have access to many performance and competitive opportunities. My high school aged students and I brainstorm ways in which their piano playing can serve as a strong college supplemental area in their college applications. With all students I emphasize a love of music as a whole (Not just the piano), and not just telling my students to practice, but believe very strongly we need to practice together in the lesson so that the process becomes more automatic and unconscious for them to replicate at home.
